lyrics
When did we think it was going to happen again?
Let's not pretend like the wet markets weren't a bad sign
to begin with.
Having animals bleed onto each other in different cages.
Have you seen this shit with your own two eyes?
If you were there, you would probably look away anyway.
The people there are desensitized because they see it every day,
So it's kind of like putting blinders on.
Would it be the same to you if you lived there?
If you were transported there overnight?
What would be the fright?
The culture shock made you see things in a different light.
Feel a little more grateful now to be alive and to be standing where you are.
You were complaining about Verizon Mobile and random shit
Like you ain't pretend all this bleeding ain't happening on a daily basis.
They're roasting rat over there.
Rats in cages.
On top of them is another line of bats.
They've been rotating.
Rotisserie-style, like chicken.
Both can be observed in a sanctuary, but here they are.
No flight, no movement.
Take away all the motion and replace it with emotional scars
Because we're going to eat them tomorrow
And they know that something's up.
They see the blade from the other animals and it cuts their head right off
And they know they must be next.
But what they didn't know was that the whole world was going to turn into a freak show
When the virus done entered the air from out their neck
And it's going into all of the wares that be there in the wet market.
It be another sunny day,
When somebody's just trying to buy a couple eggs to get through the day
And feed their child,
But what they gonna do?
This the only chance they have to get some food
And it's the only one around,
So they better take the risk, I guess.
You don't want to clown when your family's hungry at home.
You were working so many nights
To barely even know them anymore
And you ain't really spend some quality time together in a goddamn long time,
So maybe you should just bite the bullet
And go to the wet market,
Buy some bats
And take them home.
Maybe your family will be happy with a little bit of novelty in their lives.
Maybe something a little different in front of their eyes
And they could be happy for a little moment.
Have something to smile about
Over the same dish.
Dinner time was the only time you could be in the same room.
It was such a wish to you.
You got to pretend that your family wasn't right about to end,
But take it right back to two weeks later,
Everybody in quarantine.
